What is Asthma?
Asthma is a disease that affects your lungs. It is the most common long- term disease of children and can be deadly.
There is no cure for asthma. Many people with the disease often feel healthy but may have trouble breathing when something bothers their lungs.
Symptoms of asthma include:
- Coughing
- Shortness of breath
- Wheezing
- Chest tightness
You can prevent or reduce asthma symptoms by:
- Taking medications as prescribed
- Regularly visiting the doctor
- Avoiding common triggers that may bother your lungs, such as:
- Tobacco smoke & other strong odors, sprays and smoke
- Dust and dust mites
- Animal dander & cockroaches
- Pollen & mold
- Indoor/outdoor air pollution (e.g. ozone)
